Allergies are hypersensitive immune responses to substances that either enter or come in contact with the body, such as pet dander, pollen or bee venom. A substance that causes an allergic reaction is called an “allergen”. Allergens can be found in food, drinks or the environment.
What are the signs and symptoms of allergies?
A symptom is something the patient feels and describes, while a sign can be detected by others too. Pain is a symptom and a rash is a sign.
When a person with an allergy comes into contact with an allergen, the allergic reaction is not immediate. The immune system gradually builds up sensitivity to the substance before overreacting to it.
The immune system needs time to recognize and remember the allergen. As it becomes sensitive to it, it starts making antibodies to attack it – this process is called sensitization.
Sensitization can take from a few days to several years. In many cases the sensitization process is not completed and the patient experiences some symptoms but never a full allergy.
When the immune system reacts to an allergen, there is inflammation and irritation. Signs and symptoms depend on the type of allergen. Allergic reactions may occur in the gut (digestive system), skin, sinuses, airways, eyes, and nasal passages.
Allergies from dust and pollen may have the following symptoms:
- Blocked nose
- Itchy eyes
- Itchy nose
- Runny nose
- Swollen eyes
- Watery eyes
Skin reactions, as in eczema (atopic dermatitis) may include:
- Flaking skin
- Itchy skin
- Peeling skin
- Red skin, rashes
The following allergic reactions are possible after an insect sting:
- Swelling where the sting occurred
- Sudden drop in blood pressure
- Skin itching
- Shortness of breath
- Hives – a red and very itchy rash that spreads
- Chest tightness
Food allergies may include several types of reactions:
- Tongue swelling
- Tingling in the mouth
- Swelling of the lips
- Swelling of the face
- Swelling in the throat
- Stomach cramps
- Shortness of breath
- Rectal bleeding (in children, rare in adults)
- Itchiness in the mouth
- Anaphylaxis – a very severe, often life-threatening allergic reaction
The following may be signs of an allergic reaction to medication:
- Swollen tongue
- Swollen lips
- Swelling of the face
- Skin rash
Does Everyone Have Allergies?
No, not everyone has allergies. People inherit a tendency to be allergic, although not to any specific allergen. When one parent is allergic, their child has a 50% chance of having allergies. That risk jumps to 75% if both parents have allergies.
What are Allergies?
Allergies, also called hypersensitivities, are reactions of the immune system in which normal body tissue is injured. Antibodies, lymphocytes, and other cells, which are normal protective components of the immune system, are involved in allergic reactions and autoimmune diseases. When most people use the term allergic reaction, they are referring to reactions that involve antibodies of the immunoglobulin E. (IgE) class. IgE antibodies bind to special cells. When IgE antibodies that are bound to those cells encounter antigens, in this case called allergens, the cells are prompted to release chemicals that injure surrounding tissues. Allergens can be almost anything – a dust particle, plant pollen, a drug, or food – that acts as an antigen to stimulate an immune response.
Allergic reactions range from mild to severe. Most reactions consist of just annoyances, but some reactions can be life threatening. Because each allergic reaction is triggered by a specific allergen, identifying that allergen is the first goal in diagnoses. Avoidance of allergens is usually the treatment of choice, however, we have seen many cases where the body can actually heal itself from allergies through restoring healthy gut flora, rebalancing vital vitamins and minerals, and combatting certain parasites and pathogens.
The West Clinic has been successfully treating allergies for over a hundred years. Our treatments and therapies are tried and true. With treatments and therapies that have been handed down and perfected through the generations, we are confident in our ability to improve your health.
What are recommended Allergy Treatments and Therapies?
MAH: Major Auto-hemotherapy (MAH) involves the injection of medical grade ozone gas into your drawn blood. The ozone is allowed to mix with the blood for a period of time. The ozonated blood then passes through an ultraviolet blood irradiation light which stimulates the immune system, destroys and inhibits infectious pathogens, activates white blood cells, and has incredible anti-inflammatory effects. Then your blood is intravenously infused back into your body. When ozone is injected into the treated sample of blood it destroys any pathogens and when it is injected back into the person it has the effect of an autogenous (self-generated) vaccine. Major Auto-hemotherapy has a cumulative effect so that each treatment builds on and enhances the effects of previous treatments. Major Auto-hemotherapy when combined with Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UVB) synergistically amplifies the effectiveness of both therapies.
Asyra Testing (Energy Testing): Running an Asyra test is an example of a process we call bio-energetic testing. Bio-energetic testing is effectively “asking the body a question” and obtaining the response directly from the body’s own physiology, without engaging the conscious and language centers of the mind. This testing utilizes safe, low voltage electromagnetic signals to digitally decode your body so that we are able to harness your own healing potential.
Nutritional Guidance: Optimal nutrition is crucial for everyone, especially for those whose bodies are under stress, in the healing process, or are coping with disease. There are several benefits of proper nutrition when you are in the healing/treatment process. Healthy eating reduces inflammation, supports the immune system, prevents pathogenic infestation (fungal, bacterial, viral, etc.), supports healthy digestive function, supports hormone systems, and supports detoxification. When the body is in an unhealthy state, its defenses drop. The immune system suffers. Auto-immune disorders and food allergies can develop and harmful microorganisms have the opportunity to invade. It is imperative that you make a diet/lifestyle change to help support your immune system, not hinder it, and give your body the opportunity to heal.
Acupuncture: Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. It encompasses a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force that flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, your energy flow will re-balance. Acupuncture also stimulates nerves, muscles and connective tissues, boosting your body’s natural painkillers and increases blood flow.
Urine / Blood Isode Injections: These injections involve processing blood or urine with ozone for intramuscular injections. UB isode injections are useful for activating or enhancing the body’s cellular mediated immune response in patients with chronic disease, cancer, chronic infections, allergies, and autoimmune diseases.
Ionic Foot Detox: An ionic foot detox bath is a natural method of assisting the body in eliminating harmful toxins, heavy metals, and other harmful foreign matter. It assists the body in purging heavy metals, encourages a balanced ph level, reduces inflammation, disposes of yeast overgrowth toxins and parasites, detoxes the liver and kidneys, and enhances the immune system.
Supplements / NX: Two time Nobel prize winner Linus Pauling said, “Every ailment, every sickness, and every disease can be traced to an organic mineral deficiency. People are not getting the proper organically complexed trace minerals and nutrients to provide homeostasis as nature intended.” Good nutrition is the key to optimal health. Much of the food we eat has lost the vital nutrients our bodies need to function properly. This is why supplementing with organic, natural vitamins and minerals is essential to achieving and maintaining optimal health.
Rectal Insufflation: One of the best ways to restore oxygen levels, resolve chronic pain patterns, heal the digestive tract, destroy harmful pathogens, and promote longevity is through increasing the oxygen saturation in the body. The infusion of ozonated gas into one’s rectum is not as strange a procedure as you would think. The colon is known to many physicians and surgeons as the “third lung” because of the absorption rate of the mucosal lining in the intestines. This powerful oxygen is extremely influential in restoring a healthy gut environment, blood oxygenation, cellular vitality, and has an immediate effect on the immune system as a whole.
Neural Therapy: Neural Therapy is one of the most advanced and effective of all the holistic healing modalities. It involves using small needles to reset the neurovegative system and remove interference fields that will promote healing. In the process, this often aids in reducing pain and improving functionality.
Pulsed Electromagnetic Therapy (if needed): Pulsed Electromagnetic Therapy (PEMF) delivers beneficial, health enhancing frequencies to the cells of the body. Electromagnetic currents pass right through the body, penetrating every cell, tissue, organ and even bone without being absorbed or altered. As they pass through, they stimulate most of the electrical and chemical processes of theses tissues. PEMFs are specifically designed to positively support cellular energy, resulting in better cellular health and function. This therapy helps patients by reducing pain and inflammation, and improves energy, circulation, blood and tissue oxygenation, sleep quality, blood pressure, the uptake of nutrients, detoxification and cell regeneration.

Four days after receiving neural therapy injections in each of my ankles and feet, I had considerable improvement. It's been just over a week and I am able to work out and exercise without discomfort. I have the "pep" back in my step.

I initially came to the West Clinic for aches and pains associated with -my chosen profession, a professional rodeo cowboy. I had both my knees treated and I saw IMMEDIATE relief. That was last summer, and I haven't had any pain after traveling, during or after competing, and other rugged circumstances.
